Need to Know

Staff

The nursery is privately owned and managed by Debbie and her business partner Linda. We are both parents ourselves and take great pride in ensuring that our nursery feels like a true home from home.

Our staff are fully trained to provide the very best in childcare with many having gained their N.N.E.B., D.N.N. and BTEC qualifications. Some senior staff hold the higher childcare qualification: A.D.C.E.

All our nursery assistants are being trained on the premises by independent training bodies. Howley Grange is a recognised training establishment for students on courses from various settings.

First Aid: All staff, including apprentices are first aid trained.

Uniform

We feel uniform is important at Howley Grange Kindergarten, therefore the Tweeny and Kindergarten children are expected to wear nursery uniform. Uniform is not optional, it is a nursery requirement.

This comprises:

  • White polo shirt
  • Red jumper or cardigan
  • Grey skirt or trousers

All items are available from supermarkets, please ensure it is clearly labeled.

The nursery children need a change of clothing. Parents are asked to bring these items to be left in their own bag. As children like to be independent parents are asked to dress them in clothing they are able to cope with and not their best clothes as the children indulge greatly in outdoor and messy play. We do require that suitable footwear and a warm coat is provided in winter and that suncream is applied in sunny weather. We do like to get outside, whatever the weather!

Meals

We believe that children should be introduced to a wide range of tastes and flavours as early as possible. This encourages them to take joy in food and to be less likely to grow up to be fussy eaters. Eating the same food as their friends is a great way to encourage your child to be confident to try new things they might not otherwise encounter. Sometimes it takes a while for a child to feel confident with new food, but it’s worth persevering and our staff will be there to support them as they explore exciting new tastes.

Our healthy, freshly cooked meals are delivered every day from our dedicated professional caterer. All meals are prepared from fresh ingredients, just as you would at home. Allergies and special dietary requirements can be catered for.

We follow the “Eat Better, Start Better” guidelines and have a Dudley Food for Health Gold rating.
